A big thank you to all the teachers who participated in the fourth annual SCDSB Read Aloud! You and your students were among about 200 classes who signed up to participate this year! 109 classes learned about the impact of animals during the first world war in "Innocent Heroes" and 79 classes read about Adam's personal journey of discovery in "Hawk".

We are extremely excited to announce the titles of the books that have been chosen
for this year’s Simcoe County Read Aloud!  


Grades 3-6:  Innocent Heroes - Stories of Animals in the First World War by Sigmund
Brouwer
Grades 6-8:  Hawk by Jennifer Dance
Teachers of grade 6 students are invited to decide which of the books are most suitable for their classes.


The 4th annual SCDSB Read Aloud will take place over a 7 week period starting
March 18 to May 3rd. You can join this year's read aloud by clicking on the

We are excited to announce that the 4th annual SCDSB Read Aloud will take place over a 7 week period starting March 18 to May 3rd. Last year 250 classes participated in the Simcoe County Read Aloud. Seventy-five classes followed Sophie on her “90 Days of Different” adventures and 175 classes decided to #ChooseKind and read Wonder. We hope you and your classes look forward to coming together as a county, united in a love of reading. We will be sending out an email next week announcing this year’s Junior and Intermediate book selections. Stay tuned! Save the date! Spread the Word!

Eric Walters Visits Lake Simcoe P.S.

Check out the video below to catch part of the visit that Eric Walters had with the Intermediate students at Lake Simcoe Public School.  He had some great advice for them and gave a sneak peek into his latest book 90 Days of Different.  Close to 100 schools across the county are reading the book right now as part of the 3rd Annual SCDSB Read Aloud.
